Python on Planes

Every year Slashdot redesigns their site for April Fools Day. Last year it was the “omgponies” theme and this year they added the “slashdotit” feature complete with fake stories (which people actually believe and then post to digg). I saw this story and I loled (in the literal sense). I really wish someone would develop it. I wonder what Samuel L. would have to say about it?

The Areas of My Expertise

I heard a while back that John Hodgman‘s book “Area’s Of My Expertise” was available for free on iTunes. For those of you not familiar with Hodgman, he appears on both “The Daily Show” and the “Get A Mac” Apple commercials. If you want me to be more specific, he’s the one in the commercials you don’t want to punch in the face.  I started listening to his book and after only the first three tracks, this has been one of the funniest books I’ve ever listened to (not that I LISTEN to books on a regular basis). Anyways, if you have the time, check it out.  You might even learn something like ways to tell the future, jokes that never produce laughter, hobos, and presidents who have hooks for hands.

How funny…

During the summer of this year (2006), the computer services staff thought it would be “fun” to set up all of the dead hard drives we had and use them as dominoes. The event was recorded by yours truly and uploaded to youtube by Joel. When on digg this morning, I found this article. Anyways, it’s funny seeing something you’re involved in end up on another article like that one. Oh yeah, where did they get that statistic of 22TB? Just wondering…

Yakety Sax Mash-Up

Yakety Sax, better known as the Benny Hill theme, can make anything funny. I was sent a youtube link of a turtle trying to “rape” another turtle. Not finding any humor in the video, I thought of a way spice it up: use the Benny Hill Theme! Watch it once and you’ll see a sexually frustrated turtle in a society gone horribly wrong trying to satisfy its own needs without considering the thoughts of others. Pretty fucked up, huh? Watch it again with Yakety Sax playing in the background and you get pure hilarity! I used this website for the music because I was at work and couldn’t download an mp3. If you’re using firefox, open it in a new tab. If you’re using internet explorer, open a new window. In your other tab/window open up your video of choice and enjoy what your comic genius of a mind has created.

Other videos to try out include the following:
The sinking of the titanic
Casino Ending (I think I crossed a line with this one)
Man slapping his wife at a dance (co-workers choice)
Anyways you get the point. You may have to start the music a few seconds into the video to get the full effect.

Enjoy!
