To Do List

This is simply a list of things I always wanted to do in no particular order.

1. Spend a weekend at the Pinnacles.
The Pinnacles are located near Soledad in California. When traveling northbound on the 101 to San Francisco I always see the exit and want to plan a weekend camping trip with friends to check out the trails and explore the caves. This is only 1 of many camping trips I would like to go on.

2. Spend a weekend in Monterey.

I’ve only been to Monterey a couple times and would love to do the “tourist thing” up there. Besides visiting the aquarium, I would love to check out a few of the local restaurants. I’m a big fan of seafood, so I would like to see how different it is from the local seafood we have in Morro Bay.

3. Have San Francisco Clam Chowder in a Bread Bowl.
Okay, so this may seem silly, but I LOVE clam chowder in a bread bowl. On top of that, San Francisco has some of the best clam chowder I have ever tasted. It was only natural for me to want to try this out.

4. Have dinner parties.
I’m open-minded when it comes to trying new food and making new food. Cooking is one of those important skills I need to improve upon, so I thought having dinner parties would help. Not only is it a way for me to try new food, but it gives my friends and me something to do that doesn’t involve drinking copious amounts of alcohol. Unfortunately I don’t see myself having these anytime soon unless anyone cares to host.

5. Finish Final Cut Pro book.
Movies are something that I’ve always been passionate about. I would love to turn something film-related into a hobby/skill. Learning how to use the program Final Cut Pro can give me that opportunity. I was doing pretty well on reading the book, but then I started slacking. I’m really more project-oriented and learn better by doing something I’m interested in (rather than reading a textbook); that’ a call to all of you amateur filmmakers who would like to collaborate on something!

6. Watch more movies.
Movies are something I love to talk about because it’s one of the few things I’m passionate about and it’s also something a lot of people are interested in discussing (as opposed to talking to people about computer/IT related topics…another one of my passions). Watching movies is also a great way to also just relax after a hard day of work or an excuse to chill with your friends. I got Netflix a couple weeks ago and it’s a good feeling to come and pop in a new movie or being able to get that obscure movie someone told you about at a party.

7. Try Lobster
Again, this is another one of the silly entries on my list. As stated above I love seafood, but I’ve yet to try lobster.

8. Learn to Make Sushi
I admit I have tried to make Sushi and failed miserably. However, that doesn’t mean I’m not going to try again. Sushi is one of my favorite foods and it’s also healthy! It would be nice to be able to make it myself for dinner or even make it for one of my proposed dinner parties. However, before I do that I’m going to have to have more practice or else suffer the embarrassment of bad sushi. Anyone care to help practice with me?

9. Work on a PHP project.
I used to do a lot of web development with PHP. It was nice because it kind of put me into this zone where I was able to concentrate on the task at hand and enjoy doing it. After quitting my previous job I no longer have the opportunity to work on such projects. I don’t have all of the time in the world, but that is not the issue. The issue is that I’m uninspired and need ideas for something fun to do. I would love to collaborate with someone on an idea for a web site or web app.

10. Write more articles.
I set this blog up as a way for me to post my ideas, articles or just vent in general. I haven’t been doing a good job at all, so this something that obviously needs to be improved upon. I think my problem is that I just don’t put down whatever is in my head. Instead I’m trying to think of that groundbreaking article or a how-to that will simplify everyone’s life. Instead I should just be doing this for me and put whatever I want down.

11. Home-brewing
This is more of an on-going goal since I already do my own home brewing. I eventually want to learn how to make my own recipes instead of making beer from pre-made recipes. However, brewing beer in itself is fun and an excuse for people to come together to drink beer.

12. Go wine tasting
I live in the middle of Paso Robles and Edna Valley, both home to many wineries. How come I have yet to go out to any of these wineries to help start a wine collection? This is definetly something I would love to do in a group setting.

13. Follow through with school.
Right now I feel I have ample opportunity to really start my career and make the money I know I can make. I didn’t bust my ass for my AS degrees for nothing. However, I’m not satisfied with only AS degrees. Instead I’m thinking long term and I want to AT LEAST finish my BS degree before I start my career. Currently I’m working full time to save money to help accomplish this goal. I hope all of the hard work pays off and leads to greater opportunities in the future.

If anyone cares to accompany me on this journey I have laid out for myself, please let me know, the more the crazier!
